History

Prior to the 1970’s the current location of PVTFC was open field.  Then Russell  Bratt put up a pole building with three tennis courts, incorporating an overhead door in the event that he would need to sell the building for industrial use.  Those courts are currently called 1, 2, and 3. At that time many of the members had keys and came and went freely for open play. Mr. Bratt sold the club to Ted Sprinkman, who owned it for about 10 years. In July of 1990, Ted sold Pleasant Valley to John and Jacci Gambucci.  At the time of purchase there were approximately 200 members playing out of Pleasant Valley Tennis Club.  The original logo remains on the east wall of court 3.

In 1992 three outdoor courts were added to the south, and from Labor Day to Memorial Day were covered with an air structure known as “The Bubble”.  A breezeway was created with revolving doors entering The Bubble to maintain air pressure.  Membership continued to grow, and many members participated in the semi-annual “Bubble Parties” to remove the structure for the summer, and then to assemble it for the indoor season three months later.

1997 brought the addition of five indoor courts and two outdoor courts (for a total of 8 indoor and 5 outdoor), the demise of the Bubble, as well as construction of the fitness center.  Fitness was leased out and run independently at that time.  The end of 2009 brought the end of the lease, and  Pleasant Valley Tennis and Fitness was then born as “one club”, fully renovated, and continues to evolve as a single club culture.  Memberships are offered for Fitness only or Tennis and Fitness.  Currently there are approximately 450 tennis memberships, representing over 1000 players.  Fitness only memberships are growing as our programs and reputation develops.

In 2005 Pleasant Valley Tennis received the Wisconsin Club of the Year designation from the Wisconsin Tennis Association.  PVTFC is also a regular host of the Wisconsin Coaches Clinic, WIAA sub-sectional and sectional play, numerous college matches, and both adult and junior USTA tournaments.  PVTFC also supports numerous events that benefit non-profit organizations.
